| The great dignitaries including the ministers,
missionaries, religious starlets and veterans in the field of social
work have thus far visited 'ASTITVA'
and have seen to believe the magnitude of the responsibilities assumed
by the trustees to themselves and the way in which they are executed
successfully and meaningfully. Realising that the task is herculean
requiring tremendous amount of determination, devotion and dedication
and also that the ambit being ever on the increase, the MIDC allotted
'ASTITVA' a plot of land free
of cost admeasuring 2604 square metres in July 1999 and on compliance
with the necessary formalities the plot of land was formally acquired
by 'ASTITVA' in January 2000.
The said plot of land is adjacent to the existing complex of 'ASTITVA'
rendering it possible to develop its activities a great deal in order
to accommodate ever increasing number of the mentally retarded, the
deaf and mute as also other categories of handicaps like the blind,
physically handicapped etc. The trustees propose to execute subject
to availability of funds the construction of the three storey complex
with the total floor space of about 26000 square feet on the newly
acquired plot of land the cost of which is estimated to be in the
region of Rs. 12 millions.

Bhoomi Pujan of the New Site

| Total medical care with attached hospital
with resident doctors, nurses, ward boys etc. round the clock |
| Despite the provision of pure drinking
water and maintenance of totally hygienic conditions and absolute
pollution free environment, the students would continue to need medical
attention because of their handicaps over which none has any control.
The trustees therefore propose to have a mini hospital manned by resident
doctors, nurses and ward boys working round the clock in order to
attend to students in case of necessity. The proposed hospital is
also expected to be equipped with modern instruments, implements etc.
and also with medicines including life saving drugs for the benefit
of the students. The trustees are fully aware that the cost of establishing
a mini hospital fully equipped and that of maintaining the same with
necessary man power is very high, but as they have assumed to themselves
the responsibility of the students in general and hostel in-mates
in particular for life, there appears no alternative for a hospital.
The initial cost of establishing a mini hospital with furniture, fixture,
ultra modern instruments, implements etc. is estimated
to be in the region of Rs. 5 millions. |
